Why Make Your Baby’s Clothes?
Making your baby's clothes can take too much time, and it can also be challenging. However, it can give you the fulfillment that everything that your baby uses has your personal touch, making those clothes safer and secure.
Aside from those reasons, making your baby's clothes, like learning how to make baby bibs from washcloths, is essential for future emergencies like needing extra napkins and not being able to go to the store to pick up bibs.
Having a baby means being ready at any time, and by that, I mean all the time. You have to make sure that you have everything covered and cater to your baby's needs.
Part of learning how to make baby bibs and washcloths is choosing the perfect pattern for your baby's clothes and your baby's towels or napkins. This is important because babies get attracted to bright patterns, and colors and what they wear will also help them calm down.
However, patterns will depend on what you want to make and how you want your baby to look.
The first type of DIY headband that you need to learn how to make are the sewn headbands. It is a bit difficult to make, but it can also be the most stylish and the cutest that your baby could ever wear, depending on how you do it.
- ¼ yard fabric
- Walking foot
- Microtext needle
- Sewing machine
- fold the fabric in half
- Place the Knot Bow Headband Pattern on it
- Pin it in place
- Sew the DIY headband edges using a ¼ seam but be sure to leave an inch opening.
- Trim the ends of the folded fabric
- Slipstitch one inch open and closed.
- Turn the headband right side out
- Tuck the opening in
- Slipstitch again
- Lock the stitching and make sure that it is not too tight nor too snug.
All you have to do now is put it on your baby's head and make sure that it fits correctly and does not irritate your baby.
You can also resort to not sewing, especially when you are in a hurry and need to fix up something that will work for sudden events and keep your baby stylish.
- Knit Fabric
- Measuring tape
- Glue gun
- Measure the baby’s head using the measuring tape
- Mark the fabric that you have with a pencil
- Cut through the outline that you have made.
- Create a knot on one area of the headband for the bow.
- Trim off the extra fabric from the bow
- Seal the bow using a glue gun and a glue stick
- Let it dry
One of the things you can create to go for with the headband that you made for your baby is a face mask. Of course, it has to be in the same color and fabric with your headband, and it also has to fit your baby's face perfectly so that she can breathe properly even when wearing it.
Face masks should be built for protection, and that should be your goal when making one for your baby.
You can also make jewelry for your baby using garters and ribbons to match what she is wearing. Do not use beads because the baby might break that and put them in their mouths, which won't be a perfect scene.
You can also come up with that will go well with those headbands that you made for your baby are gloves. They should match the fabric used for the headband and should also have a matching ribbon to make sure that it does not come off any time soon.
You can take a piece of the fabric you used for the headband and create a handkerchief out of it. You will need to sew the material's corners, but it will be worth it, especially if you intend to go out with your baby.
One of the most fulfilling things that we do as parents are providing for our children, being there whenever they need us to, and getting them ready for anything. Being able to make your baby's garments is part of being prepared. So, I discussed how to make baby bibs from washcloths and how to make other garments, adding a personal touch to everything the baby can use.
